I have been using Bare Escentuals for years now. I love the way it does not feel like makeup! I’ve used the same brushes and colors over time so it’s a low maintenance makeup system. It’s a bit more expensive than the makeup I used before (mostly Clinique) but it lasts forever. A little goes a long way.
The problem with Bare Escentuals
The only problem I have with Bare Escentuals is the time it takes to open and close all of those containers and shake the foundation out every single day! I’d drop them and lose powder, which became a pain. It was also time consuming so I just started leaving them open. That worked but created a big mess on the counter.
The solution that worked for me
I finally figured out I could keep them organized and keep them open all the time by using a silverware divider. I’m lucky to have a middle drawer on my vanity area wide enough so I can hide all of my makeup products. This divider is a big organization helper and time saver for me and hopefully this can give someone else some ideas too. I’ve always thought a Keurig drawer would work too, but I haven’t tried that since I have a built in drawer.
My system includes open containers of:
- bisque (concealer)
- two shades of foundation
- Mineral Veil (finishing powder)
- warmth (blush)
The rest of the products are a mix of things that I like and placed around the divider in the order that I put them on. I have tried hard through the years to keep makeup to a minimal amount of products. Really, why would anyone need 4 mascaras?!
I line the bottom of the drawer with a piece of butcher paper (some type of design liner paper would look so much better but this drawer quickly becomes a mess and I’d rather just trash the cheap paper when I clean it out). I also put paper towels in each divider section because of the mess that makeup (or messy me) creates.
This system has worked out great to organize and speed up my time getting ready; hopefully it has given you some makeup storage ideas too!
